Can You Shower, Exercise & Swim in Our Earrings?

One of the questions we hear most often is: Do I need to take my earrings off every time I shower, exercise or swim?

Our jewellery is designed for everyday life — not just for a few hours at a time. For most A Pierce of Life pieces, you can keep them on while showering, exercising and swimming, with a little simple care afterwards.

Can I Shower in Gold-Plated Earrings?

Our gold-tone jewellery uses 14K or 18K gold plating and is finished with an additional protective E-Coat.

The E-Coat creates an extra barrier over the plated surface, helping protect the finish from everyday exposure and preserve its shine. This makes our pieces suitable for regular everyday wear, including showering.

Can I Exercise While Wearing Them?

Yes. Our flatback earrings are particularly convenient for active days because the backing sits flat against the ear rather than leaving a sharp post behind it.

Whether you're going for a walk, running or heading to the gym, you don't need to build your jewellery routine around constantly removing and reinstalling your earrings. After particularly sweaty workouts, simply rinse or gently clean your jewellery and dry it thoroughly.

What About Swimming?

Our jewellery can also be worn while swimming. However, pool chemicals, salt water, sunscreen and other products can be harsher on jewellery than ordinary fresh water.

After swimming, we recommend rinsing your earrings with fresh water and drying them thoroughly rather than leaving chlorine or salt residue on the surface. This small habit can help your plating look its best for longer.

Your Polishing Cloth Is Included

Every A Pierce of Life order includes a professional silver polishing cloth. You can use it to gently clean and refresh suitable silver surfaces when needed.

Avoid aggressive rubbing on plated surfaces, and don't use abrasive household cleaners or harsh chemicals on your jewellery.
