Our flatbacks are measured from the back of the disc to the tip of the post (not including the front piece).

It took me a while to get the hang of it the first time. I actually tugged on my ear a bit and it hurt while I was trying to screw it on. After a few tries, though, it got much easier. Once it's in, it's really comfortable—I can even sleep with it on and it doesn't poke or bother me at all.
