Flatback Post Length Size Guide
The right post length ensures comfort, proper healing, and a clean, flush look against your ear. Too short and the backing may press into the skin; too long and the post may snag or shift.
Our flatbacks are measured from the back of the disc to the tip of the post (not including the front piece).
Post Length Guide by Piercing Type

Tips for Getting the Right Fit
- 5mm — ideal for very thin lobes or snug healed piercings with minimal tissue.
- 6mm — the most versatile length; suits most healed standard piercings.
- 8mm — great for thicker ears, cartilage, or any healing piercing needing extra room.
- Fresh or healing piercings need extra room for swelling — go 1–2mm longer than usual.
- Not sure? 6mm is a safe starting point for most healed lobe piercings.
- Your piercer can measure your exact ear thickness with a calliper for the most accurate fit.
