At A Pierce of Life, we choose our materials with comfortable, long-term wear and sensitive ears in mind.

Nickel-Free & Lead-Free

Nickel is a common cause of jewellery-related skin reactions, which is why our earrings are designed to be nickel-free and lead-free. Rather than focusing only on how a piece looks, we pay attention to the materials that remain in contact with your piercing throughout the day.

925 Sterling Silver

Many of our designs begin with solid 925 Sterling Silver. For our gold-tone pieces, the silver is finished with 14K or 18K gold plating, depending on the individual design.

This allows us to create detailed, delicate jewellery while avoiding the inexpensive base-metal construction commonly found in fashion jewellery.

Pure Titanium Posts

Selected A Pierce of Life flatback earrings use implant-grade pure titanium posts. Titanium is lightweight, durable and widely used for piercing jewellery. Its naturally darker grey colour is completely normal and is a characteristic of the metal itself.

Because different designs use different post materials, you can always check the individual product description for the exact specification.

An Extra E-Coat Layer

Our plated pieces are finished with a protective E-Coat. This additional layer helps protect the plated surface from everyday exposure and helps preserve its finish and shine for longer.

Designed to Stay On

Comfort isn't only about material. Our internally threaded flatback earrings replace the traditional butterfly backing with a smooth disc that sits flat behind your ear. There are no sharp posts sticking out behind the ear, making them particularly comfortable for sleeping and long periods of wear.

Most designs are also available in different post lengths so you can choose a fit that better matches your anatomy.
